Job Description

Job Title: SDDC/HCI Solutions Architect 

Business Unit: Cloud and Infrastructure – Hybrid Cloud Practice

Reports to: SDDC and HCI team lead 

Location: Northern Ireland

Overview of Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Solutions Architect to join our team. This person will be responsible for designing and implementing complex IT infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of Global, Enterprise, government and mid-market customers. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure solutions are aligned with business objectives and technical requirements.

Key Role Responsibilities

• Develop and design IT infrastructure solutions to support business requirements based on industry experience and best practices.
• Responsible for producing documentation such as high-level and low-level customer-facing design documents based on pre-existing Design Templates.
• Will run Design workshops for POC, Pilot and Deployment Services as well Pre-Sales solution workshops.  
• Will support Pre-Sales Solution Architects in establishing solution requirements, providing technical overview/demo/poc/pilot of related technology specialisation as well as a key contributor to produce related Solution Proposal to help drive Professional Services sales
• Required to support from a technical specialist perspective the Pre-Sales lead with building statements of works that deliver upon customer needs whilst protecting the interests of Ergo.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams in the implementation or maintenance of these solutions
• Collaborate with various business units, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure customer needs are met
• Work with external vendors to evaluate and select the appropriate solutions for the customer.
• Ensure the infrastructure solutions comply with security policies and regulatory requirements.
• Staying up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies within your area of technology.

Education, Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven 5 years experience within an IT engineering role or similar
• VMware certifications strongly preferred (VCF, NSX, VSAN, vSphere).
• Additional certifications in virtualization, cloud, or networking technologies (e.g., Nutanix, AWS, Azure) are an advantage.
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Good customer facing skills essential with a willingness to develop any areas not as strong as the other such as but not limited to presenting, whiteboarding, stake holder management, live demo and running customer discovery sessions 
• A willingness to run customer workshops, consulting on customer requirements and presenting solutions to a group.
• Proven expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) design and deployment.
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware NSX, vSAN, and vSphere.
• Intermediate knowledge of the VMware Aria suite.
• Foundational knowledge of Nutanix solutions considered a plus.
• Good documentation skills from a pre-sales, design consultancy and implementation document perspective
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently or part of a team
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Capable of mentoring the engineering team members to develop their skillset.

Preferred Certifications

• Required: VMware Certified Professional – VMware Cloud Foundation Administrator or Architect
• Required: VMware Certified Professional – Network Virtualization (NSX)
• Desirable: VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Network Virtualization Design or Deploy
